Amid the Covid-19 USA lockdown in April of 2020, SCFE uncovered an immediate and urgent need in their beloved home state of Ohio: The major foodbanks were in dire need of personal protective equipment (PPE) and didn’t budget for the expense. Global supply chain issues made it near impossible to source “compliant” PPE for the foodbanks and without them they could not stay open to guidelines and our most vulnerable poor were in risk of not receiving the most basic food necessities to live
Through our Consultative DMM Conversation™, the solution became evident that a virtual event to raise money for the regional foodbanks across Ohio was needed and possible. The key to event success was virtual connectivity and SCFE launched “The Ohio Foodbank Competition.” We were all thrust into a virtual environment where social human connectivity was all but lost. SCFE converged two every day technologies in Zoom and Go Fund Me to fight to keep Ohio’s volunteers protected. On a dreary Friday afternoon, 30 people came together on a Zoom to gather socially for a happy hour and to launch the Ohio Foodbank Competition. The idea was simple: challenge your peers to a contest on who could raise the most money for the region closest to their hearts.
